VOTES

The VOTES project « Valuation Of Terrestrial Ecosystem Services in a multifunctional peri-urban space » (2010-2012) was funded by Belgian Science Policy (BELSPO). The project was coordinated by the Department of Geography of the University of Namur. The objective was to perform an integrated assessment of ecosystem services and their future evolution over a study area located in Belgium (Beauvechain, Grez-Doiceau, Bierbeek and Oud-Heverlee municipalities). This assessment was based on the three pillars of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental. It was performed at a high spatio-temporal resolution (land parcel scale) and used a dynamic vegetation model (CARAIB) coupled to an agent-based model (Aporia).
